As one of the possible ways to achieve the objectives of local economic development, the City of Niš has also chosen to attract investments thanks to its favorable geographical position, skilled workforce, planning documentation, infrastructure, as well as efficient administration. In accordance with the Law on Investments, the activities of the Local Economic Development and Investment Support Unit are carried out by the Office for Local Economic Development, which has taken over all professional and operational tasks related to creating conditions for attracting and implementing new investments. The success of the cooperation with investors so far is best reflected in the number of new jobs opened, as well as in the shortest time required to implement greenfield and brownfield investments. The following investments have been successfully implemented so far:
Philip Morris
Value: 600 millions euro

Aster Textile

Beginning of the project: december 2015.
In December 2015, Turkish company Aster Textile purchased EI Cegar from bankruptcy and reconstructed the facility.
The plan is to employ a total of 2,000 workers.
Leoni
Value: 22 millions euro

Beginning of the project: april 2018.
Currently, 5,000 workers are employed in the factories in Prokuplje and Doljevac,
New factory in Niš on 8.4 ha – production of cable kits for customer BMW.
The planned number of employees by October 2019 is 2,200.

Zumtobel

Zumtobel Group from Austria is one of the leading companies in the field of innovative solutions for lighting and manufacturing of auxiliary components.
January 29,2017, the Prime Minister of the RS announced the construction of a factory in Niš, and the Government of the Republic of Serbia declared the project of national importance.
The facility covers an area of 40,000 m² with currently 200 employees out of a total of 1,100 workers planned under the Incentive Agreement.
Integrated micro-electronics

Commitment to employ 1250 over the next 10 years.

Tehnicom

NEW Coworking SPACE IN NIŠ FOR INNOVATIVE START-UPS.
The investor has reconstructed the EI informatics facility located in the Electronic Industry complex, into a modern facility intended for the purpose of the Science and Technology Park (IT HUB), which will employ 200 – 300 developers.

The investor completed the reconstruction of the facility and began the trial production.
The first line produced 1000 ironing machines.
